I just hooked up my EasyStore tonight. The computer (El Capitan OS) recognizes the drive, but it is read-only. The instructions indicate that I need to format it for MAC by erasing, using DisK Utility. From the Volume Format menu, choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Enter a name for the external hard drive in the Name field. Click the Erase button. Military cac card reader software for mac. However, for some Mac users, formatting a WD portable hard drive on Mac is not as easy as formatting a hard drive on PC. Because there is no “quick format” feature in Mac OS and there is no disk partition tool for Mac hard disk drive.

Hi, I have a WD Elements USB 3 external hard drive. I can see the drive on the control panel of my PC running win7. I can see the drive in the computer setup.

I cannot see the drive in windows explorer. I have attempted to change the drive letter (or assign a drive letter) I have gone into Disk Management and can see the drive with a label 'Disk 1' When I right click on it there is no heading of 'Change Drive letter or Path' I have gone into CMD>DiskPart>list Volume (but can only see the C drive) If I check properties/driver it advises the device is operating correctly.

I have also tried to see the drive on my laptop running win10 I can see the drive in explorer as e: but it has a question mark over the hard drive symbol and will not let me open it. Kind regards Mark. Hi Mayank Thanks for your quick response but sadly nothing has helped. In the article the fixit app failed to find the drive yet the drive is in the bios setup and in windows device manager and control panel. In fact the properties found at each step advise the device is working correctly. I have also removed the driver and then let windows auto detect and assign a new driver. Download office 365 pro plus for mac. Again properties advise the device is working correctly, but cannot be seen in explorer.

Also when I right click is disk manager there is no option to change drive letter or path. So windows detects drive immediately and advises it is working correctly, but the drive cannot be accessed. Still need help! Kind regards Mark. Hi Mighty Miro, No never connected the two drives at once.
